May 2020 Update
Greetings Church Family,
We hope that this message finds all of you safe and healthy. As we continue our lives in this “new norm world” in which we are living we are overwhelmed with how you all continue to witness through your prayers and gifts.
We want to give you an update regarding our upcoming Family Promise host week starting on May 10th, Mother’s Day. Traditionally, these families are hosted on our campus and well cared for by our church family volunteers. However, due to Covid-19 in order to protect these families and our church family they are being housed in three of the transitional housing units beside the Family Promise Day Center. We have been asked to provide meals for these families, currently six single moms and collectively their 12 children, a total of 18 in our care for this week. We have partnered with Highland UMC to care for these families during our host week. NRUMC will provide groceries for breakfast and lunch Sunday through Tuesday based on a shopping list to be provided to us later this week from Family Promise. We have a volunteer that will drop off the groceries at the Family Promise Day Center this Friday May 8th. Then on Wednesday May 13th Highland UMC will provide a resupply of breakfast and lunch provisions. Regarding dinner, NRUMC will be using the services of local restaurants to provide dinners starting Sunday May 10th through Wednesday May 13th. Then Highland UMC will provide dinners for the remainder of the week. If able we are requesting that you consider a donation to assist with funding of these meals. Contributions can be made on line or can be mailed to the church office. Please note in your memo line that they are for Family Promise.
Imagine being homeless during this pandemic. Unimaginable, right? This is a very difficult time for the folks at Family Promise and they as well as these families greatly appreciate each and all of you and your support through your prayers and donations.
Peace and Blessings Church Family,
Angie and Jim Banask
