North Raleigh United Methodist Women
United Methodist Women of North Raleigh United Methodist Church are committed to the growth, education, and empowerment of women within the church, in the local community, and across the globe.
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
How We Grow
We grow personally and spiritually through service, mentorship, mission studies, and by expanding our understanding via the UMW’s annual reading program.
We grow as an organization through the ideas, skills, and talents of our membership. NRUMW encourages members to volunteer their unique gifts to:
- Leadership, administrative, committee, and coordinator positions
- Fundraising activities
- Mission-related service projects
But what is priceless and cannot be measured, is the way we grow together — developing friendships that last a lifetime
How We Serve
- Providing opportunities to grow spiritually
- Equipping women & girls to be leaders
- Providing transformative educational experiences
- Organizing for growth & flexibility
- Working for justice through service & advocacy
Using these initiatives, North Raleigh UMW identify and support local, national, and international missions through hands-on service projects and fund-raising activities.
How We’re Organized
North Raleigh UMW has a membership of about 230 women; and a slate of officers is inducted each year. The North Raleigh unit organizes annual events in which all members can participate.
Most members belong to a subgroup (also known as a circle). There are seven subgroups to accommodate both daytime and evening meeting needs. Subgroups meet monthly; some taking a break during summer months. Each subgroup has leadership who guide the meetings.
UMW Members who have not yet joined a subgroup, or may not be in a position to do so, belong to the membership At-Large and can participate in any aspect of the UMW — volunteering for committees or participating in service projects, the Reading Program, and fellowship or fund-raising events. At-Large members receive a monthly newsletter to stay abreast of UMW events and opportunities.
