A Prayerful Moment
We were video taping this week’s worship service while the events at the Capitol Building were unfolding this past Wednesday. Therefore, we were unable to address these disturbing events that happened in our nation.
This service celebrates the Baptism of the Lord and invites us to remember our baptism, which is a very appropriate response to the chaos of our world. In this service, we remember the solid foundation upon which we build our lives and the Church: The lordship of Jesus Christ.
Please recieve this prayer that would have been included in the service:
Let us pray,
Almighty God, when the storms rage, when the things we’ve always counted on are challenged, we turn to you! We call you Almighty because we need your strong arm, your steadfast love, and your gift of sight to see your hand at work in the midst of raging waters.
We pray for our nation, Good Lord. We are divided. In our limited sight, we cannot see a way that will bridge the divide – so we turn to you. We pray for a true experience of your promised “peace that passes all understanding” while fear captures our attention.
Bless our leaders, may they be open to the leading of your spirit. Bless us, that we may open to your presence.
The teachings, example, and passion of your Son, Jesus our Lord, is the solid foundation upon which we seek to build our lives. May our feet feel solid rock on which we stand, strengthen our faith, fill us with your love to overflowing, and assure us in the days ahead that you are God! You are Almighty!
In the name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.
Don't miss a thing!
