Hannah Ham Dickerson, RN Memorial Scholarship
Hannah was a beautiful Christian person whose spirit and inner beauty shone deep from within her heart. Her
kindness, gentleness and selflessness were evident to all who knew her. She possessed a genuine love of God
which undergirded and guided her entire life.
Hannah was a loving and devoted wife and mother, a compassionate and caring nurse, a giving volunteer, and
so much more. She always had a positive, enthusiastic attitude and worked diligently at everything she did.
Hannah was a person of humility and a true reflection of what it means to be a Christian and to be Christ-like -
she had a servant's heart.
Hannah had a love for her family as well as others...and would often say that “we are our brother’s keeper,”
meaning that we should have a concern for the welfare of others.
She had a dream of supporting those who have heard God's call to be of service to others through the medical
field.
Hannah was a member of North Raleigh United Methodist Church for many years. She greatly appreciated the
love, support and prayers of fellow members, pastors and staff.
Therefore, this scholarship has been established by her husband and children in her honor and memory to be
given to a deserving member of the North Raleigh United Methodist Church family.

John S. Huggins Memorial Scholarship
John Sidney Huggins was a Senior at N.C. State at the time of his death on October 29, 1992. He was a History major and
Film Critic, who enjoyed tennis and golf. This Memorial Scholarship for college freshmen who are members of NRUMC
was established as a means of remembering John’s life.
Matthew E. Valentine Memorial Scholarship
Matt Valentine was killed in an automobile accident the summer before he was to enter college.
During high school, Matt had severe emotional problems that threatened to destroy his chance for
a happy future. Through determined effort and growing faith, Matt came to understand the power
and saving grace of Jesus Christ to help us overcome all obstacles. By the time he graduated
from high school, Matt was an outstanding example of the healing power of God and had dedicated
himself to living a life that proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ.
This scholarship seeks to recognize outstanding Christian service and example among our young
people who are pursuing higher education. Applicants must have been a member of North
Raleigh United Methodist Church for one year.
