Various Local Missions

Members at NRUMC realize that we can’t support global missions and outreach if we don’t also support local missions and outreach.

Backpax provides care packages to Wake County children being placed into foster homes. For more information on fostering and adoption in Wake county, click here. For more information on BackPax For Foster Children, email Kristi Phillips.

Urban Ministries – an organization that has served the “at risk” citizens of Wake County for over 25 years. North Raleigh UMC is proud to be a part of this vital community agency that provides medical care, emergency funds, food, shelter, and more. Volunteers can work on Wednesday afternoons, Tuesday mornings and/or Friday mornings at the following tasks:

  • Preparing food for distribution
  • Interviewing clients
  • Assisting in the pharmacy
  • Setting appointments
  • Assisting with receptionist duties

Baileywick Elementary School – gives the members of North Raleigh UMC an opportunity to volunteer in mission on a local level. As teacher evaluations are completed, tutors are assigned to help children in all grade levels with all subjects. In August all members of NRUMC have an opportunity to donate school supplies to students so every child has the necessary materials for the start of another school year. What a wonderful, rewarding way to open a whole new world of learning and communicating to a child! For more information, email Dee Bostick.

Meals on Wheels – provide monthly meals to the elderly, handicapped and homebound citizens of Wake County. Our teams service the downtown area and the North Raleigh area. In addition to our gifts of time and service, we also contribute financially to this ministry. For more information about Meals on Wheels, visit their website at

North Raleigh Ministries – a place where families in crisis living in the North Raleigh zip codes can turn for Christian encouragement, financial assistance and food. North Raleigh UMC provides volunteers, funds and food.
