Fall Organ Recital

🎶 Organ Music Through the Ages 🎶

Join us for a captivating journey through the history of organ music, spanning from the 14th century to contemporary times! This program features a diverse selection of pieces, including masterpieces by Baroque composers like Bach and Buxtehude, the rich sounds of French Romantic composers Franck and Widor, and beautiful hymn and spiritual settings.

To enhance your experience, there will be brief talks throughout the program, offering context and insight into the music. This will not only deepen your appreciation but also connect you with the rich history behind these timeless compositions.

Laura Ellis is Professor of Organ and Carillon and Associate Director of the School of Music at the University of Florida (Where NRUMC's Hye Jin Park was her student!). She teaches courses in Sacred Music and applied lessons in organ, harpsichord, and carillon. Her recital schedule has taken her across the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe. She recently released “Jubilant Bells: Carillon Music of Alice Gomez” which was recorded on the 48-bell carillon at Central Christian Church in San Antonio. Her double album “Music for the Testaments Old and New” was recorded on the Andrew Anderson Memorial pipe organ housed in UF’s University Auditorium.

Fantasia on Christmas Carols by Vaughan Williams

This year, the NRUMC Chancel Choir will be joined by orchestra and guest baritone soloist, Chris Short, for Ralph Vaughan Williams’s spectacular arrangement of well-loved Christmas tunes and carols. The music-led service will also feature grand hymn orchestrations, handbells, and works by composers such as Marques Garrett and Kyle Pederson. We hope you will join us!
