Job Title: Nursery and Childcare Staff

North Raleigh UMC Paid Nursery and Childcare Staff

Purpose: Create a warm and safe environment for children where they can feel God’s love through your care and attention

Sunday Morning Responsibilities:
Arrive 15 minutes prior to the first worship service to set up the nursery; provide and maintain an organized and safe environment for children
● Fill morning role as directed by the Nursery Coordinator
● Assist with check-in
● Have visitors fill out an information card; be sure there is a contact name and number and allergies or medical needs are noted
● Play with and read to children, rock infants when needed, provide snack/bottles, assist with bathroom visits and change diapers as needed, assist with crafts
● Locate parents/guardians of children who cannot be consoled after 10 - 15 minutes
● Follow procedures for check-out when adults return to the nursery for their children
● Follow procedures for nursery clean up; return the room to its original state before departing; take dirty diapers and trash to the dumpster, bag soiled linens and leave for staff to pick up for laundering
● Contact the Director of Family Discipleship and Engagement if there is an emergency or if a concern arises during the morning
● Assist with replenishing supplies as needed
● Deep clean toys and furnishings when directed by the Nursery Coordinator
● Attend occasional nursery and childcare staff meetings

 

Sunday Night and Week Night Childcare Responsibilities:
● Arrive on time to set up the room per the needs of the group
● Assist with check-in
● Lead organized activities, oversee homework
● Follow procedures for check-out when adults return to pick up the children
● Follow procedures for cleaning up the space
● Contact the Director of Family Discipleship and Engagement if there is an emergency or if a concern arises during the childcare session
● Attend occasional nursery and childcare staff meetings
 

Requirements for paid nursery and childcare staff:
● Be 16 years of age or older
● Enjoy rocking babies, reading to children, playing with children, and helping children learn
● Enjoy sharing God’s love with children
● Be Safe Sanctuary trained (provided by the church)
● Be First Aid and CPR trained (provided by the church if needed)
 

Relationships:
● Overall supervision provided by the Director of Family Discipleship and
Engagement
● Direct supervision provided by the Paid Nursery Coordinator

 

Details:
● Sunday Morning and Weeknight evening positions available

● Pay starts at $15-$17 and increases based on experience

Job Title: Associate Director of Music - Contemporary / Worship Leader

Position Type: Part-time; 20 hours per week

About the Position: NRUMC is looking for a part-time Contemporary Worship Leader to help us discover a fresh approach to worship on Sunday mornings. Our dream for this service is to create a place of warmth, worship, creativity, and sincerity.  Since this position involves designing a new service, we are open to a wide variety of skill sets as it pertains to genre, instrumentation, etc.  We firmly believe that our best worship comes from our place of deepest passion, so any and all musical influences are welcome!  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate contemporary worship services, including selecting/assigning music, creating worship projection, and engaging the congregation in vibrant, welcoming, and unique worship experiences.
  • Recruit, train, and lead the contemporary worship band and Youth Band.  Foster a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages creativity, quality, and a spirit of joyful worship.
  • Develop and maintain a diverse repertoire of contemporary Christian music that aligns with the mission, vision, and theology of the church.  Compose, edit, and arrange as needed.
  • Work closely with the pastoral staff, supervising Music Director, and other church leaders to ensure that the contemporary worship service aligns with the overall mission, theology, and vision of the church.
  • Supervise and assist the existing AV team for the Contemporary Service.
  • Maintain church’s CCLI license and copyright requirements for the Contemporary Service.  This primarily includes song entry into CCLI and OneLicense databases monthly.

 

Qualifications:

  • Passion for worship and a commitment to Christ.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leading contemporary worship, including vocal and instrumental abilities.  Ideal candidates will be comfortable singing and playing their instrument at the same time.
  • Strong musical skills with proficiency in at least one instrument (e.g., guitar, keyboard, etc.) and knowledge of instruments commonly used in Contemporary Worship settings.
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and leading volunteer teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of ProPresenter 7, Planning Center, AV systems, or willingness to learn.
  • Bachelor's degree in music, worship ministry, theology, or related field preferred but not required.

 

Details:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Range: $20,000-$25,000 for 20 hours per week.
  • Flexible scheduling options.  Expected Commitments:  Sunday morning Rehearsal and Service; Contemporary Band Rehearsal (day of week is flexible; currently Sunday evening); Youth Band Rehearsal (day of week is flexible; currently Wednesday evening)
