UMW is now
United Women in Faith
Not just a name change
Our new name is part of a refresh to our organization that includes a new look, new feel, and new and improved programs designed to better nurture current members and welcome new women into our sisterhood too.
Expanding options for women
The changes address the different needs and life stages of current members and new women; and expand options for membership and engagement. The new name also aims to welcome current members whose local churches may choose to disaffiliate from The United Methodist Church, as well as women of other faith traditions who want to join.
We are North Raleigh United Women in Faith
The purpose of our organization hasn’t changed. We shall be a community of women whose purpose is:
- To know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ
- To develop a creative, supportive fellowship
- And to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
We seek to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship and education so that they can inspire, influence and impact local and global communities.
How We Grow
We grow personally and spiritually through service, mentorship, and by participating in programs, workshops, and webinars to expand our understanding of others.
We grow as an organization through the ideas, skills, and talents of our membership. North Raleigh United Women in Faith encourage members to volunteer their unique gifts to:
- Leadership, administrative, committee, and coordinator positions
- Mission-related service projects
- Fundraising activities
But what is priceless and cannot be measured, is the way we grow together — developing friendships that last a lifetime.
How we serve
From its beginning, United Women in Faith have supported ministries involving women, children, and youth, with a specific focus on:
- Providing opportunities to grow spiritually
- Equipping women & girls to be leaders
- Providing transformative educational experiences
- Organizing for growth & flexibility
- Working for justice through service & advocacy
North Raleigh United Women in Faith use these focus areas to identify and support local, national, and international missions through hands-on service projects, fund-raising activities, and the pledge-giving of members.
Choose to engage when, where and how best fits your life.
Join your way. You can get involved with our local church unit here in your own community. Or you can opt for our All Access membership, with easy online access to member resources nationwide. It isn’t an either/or … you can do both!
Most of our members belong to one of the seven established circles, some of which meet during the day and some with evening hours. Circles meet monthly, some taking a break during summer months; and each has leadership who guide the meetings.
NRUWF Members who have not yet joined a circle, or may not be in a position to do so, belong to the membership At-Large and can participate in any aspect of the United Women in Faith. At-Large members receive a monthly newsletter to stay abreast of NRUWF events and opportunities.
This new option enables women to join our sisterhood and participate in programs and events online or in person. Members can tailor their membership to align with their interests.
