Safe Sanctuaries

God calls us to make our churches safe places, protecting children and other vulnerable persons from sexual and ritual abuse. God calls us to create communities of faith where children and adults grow safe and strong. (From the Book of Resolutions of The United Methodist Church. P. 384-386)

Thus, in covenant with all United Methodist congregations, North Raleigh United Methodist Church (NRUMC) has adopted a Safe Sanctuaries policy for the prevention of child abuse in our church.

This policy applies to all current and potential NRUMC employees, contracted workers and volunteers who will be working in church-sponsored events and ministries that are conducted under the auspices of and/or endorsed by NRUMC and that involve children and youth of this congregation and community. This policy must be followed at all times on church property but also applies to any church related activity on- or off-campus. This policy also applies on church property for groups within and outside NRUMC specific ministries.

NRUMC Safe Sanctuaries training is required annually for all adult leaders working with children and youth, ages birth to 18 years. An initial training must be completed in person with ministry staff, and subsequent renewals may be completed online. To complete your annual renewal, please complete the following steps:
