Summer Music & Arts Camp

What’s Happening in Breakouts in 2026!

Crafts: We will be working with playdough to create the earth & a mini car, we will be making decorative walking sticks, doing some salt painting, decorate a luggage tag, creating keychains with beads, tissue paper globe painting and lots more!

Dance: K-2 students will learn a movement narrative based on Dandi Daley Mackall’s "Wow! The Good News in Four Words," as they embody four Gospel truths through specific dance expressions, transforming concepts like creation, salvation, and eternal rest into a personal act of worship and storytelling. Our 3rd-5th grade students will explore, through dance, how the message of "Ease on Down the Road" reminds us to trust God as He guides us through every step of life's journey.

Drama: In addition to fun theater games and activities, campers will work together to edit, practice, and put on a 5 minute sketch/scene to be performed on Friday. Campers will complete character building and script editing activities as well as performance drills that hone in on performance skills and strategies. 

Handchimes: The handbell breakout will be learning basic music notation, time signatures, note values, rests, etc and preparing the piece Bound for Glory by Tammy Waldrop for Friday's concert.

Percussion: Our percussion breakout session will be full of energy as students explore rhythms, sharpen their percussion skills, and make music together! Through fun games, hands-on activities, and ensemble playing, they'll build confidence, teamwork, and a love of making music.

Singing: Music comes alive through play! In the K-2 breakout, singers will explore musical concepts through storytelling, games, movement, creativity, and joyful collaboration. For the older campers, singers will discover the building blocks of independent singing through songs, music-reading, games, and dances.  

Visual Art: Students participating in the visual arts session will be completing a minimum of one 2D and one 3D masterpiece using a variety of media.  Our artwork will be inspired by the camp theme, “On the Way!” as campers create cityscapes and artwork that represents different modes of transportation.

Woodworking: Campers will learn some basic woodworking skills including an intro to turning, basic wood sculpting and bandsaw box making if time permits. The main project will be a memory box created from a chunk of log.

By registering, you’ve committed to:

• Sending your child each day (barring illness)
• Having your child stay through 6pm on Friday for the Concert Showcase
• Attending the Friday evening concert
• Picking up promptly in the event of behavior concerns

What to Bring & Wear

Comfortable clothes to move in

Tennis shoes (no Crocs or flip-flops, please!)

A refillable water bottle with your child’s name on it

2 Snacks and Lunch. 

All food must be peanut-free.

Optional: hats or sunscreen applied before arrival (staff cannot apply sunscreen during camp)

Recreation & Activities

Each day includes a 20–30 minute recreation break. This will be outside — weather permitting. Please dress accordingly and prepare your camper for a mix of indoor and outdoor fun! Most of our playground area is shaded, but you’re welcome to bring a hat and apply sunscreen before coming to camp (we won’t be able to apply sunscreen here).

Camp T-Shirts & Friday Concert

Every camper receives a light blue camp T-shirt to wear for our Friday celebration!

Our end-of-week Camp Concert & Art Exhibit takes place on Friday, July 17:

There is no carpool pickup and all campers will stay though the concert to allow for our final dress rehearsal

Doors for the audience open at 4:30 PM

Concert begins at 5:00 PM

Friends and family are warmly invited!

A livestream will also be available at nrumc.org/campconcert with some audio limited due to copyright restrictions

Sunday Morning Showcase

Every camper is invited back to showcase their songs during the 11am worship service on Sunday July 19th - Please wear your t-shirts!  Following worship, we will have cookies and lemonade available in the Fellowship Hall along with the group artwork created that week for the congregation to see and enjoy - as well as to congratulate the kids for all their hard work! 

Rain Plan

We’ll do our best to keep everyone dry during any rainy weather, and we appreciate your patience and help with the process in the event of rain, as we do move between buildings:

Please send a raincoat with your child, as we will move between buildings several times a day.

During drop-off, please keep your camper in the car until a staff member is present to help. This keeps both kids and volunteers safe and dry.

To help us move quickly, make sure your pickup tag is clearly visible with your camper’s name written in large black Sharpie so it can be read from a distance.
